Bird repellents, which would have to be mounted on several towers positioned around the take off/approach routes, would work in many places, but not all. LaGuardia is one of those places. The towers would have to reach over 100 ft in the air in some places, and at LaGuardia and many other majors airports like Los Angeles and Miami, the take off/approach routes are over water. It would be impossible to put repellents there.

It is annoying when birds are flying near the airport because airplanes travel fast when taking off and the birds can break into the plane and cause problems. Airports should install bird watch or bird repellents. Because of the geese, US Airways lost one plane. As a matter of fact, I have flown US Airways from LaGuardia to Charlotte, but I flew on that flight on July 1, 2006 (not January 15, 2009). I'm glad I wasn't on that flight that crashed in freezing cold Hudson River in 1/15/2009.
